The apartment, designed for two people, is located in a early 20th-century building. From the historical interiors, only the cornices above the suspended ceilings have been partially preserved, which we carefully replicated and transferred into the new interior.
The interior concept is based on a combination of authentic historical details (cornices, arched lintels), new elements of traditional design (carpentry and wrought iron products), and ultra-modern furniture and millwork.
We prioritized communal areas in the redesign, keeping just one bedroom furnished with only the essentials.
Historically the apartment had two entrances—one main and one from the service staircase. Over time, due to various rearrangements, the service entrance was partially blocked off. We reopened it without compromising the functionality of the space. The kitchen, located next to the service entrance is separated from the living room by a glass partition in a steel frame, and a similar partition with textured glass appears in the shower and laundry area. The main entry is located across the living room. While keeping it bright and spacious, we intentionally made the main entry darker, creating a sense of transition upon entering or existing the apartment.
